The Role
Norton Motorcycles is looking for an experienced and dynamic Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our team. We seek a skilled and motivated individual with proven experience in maintaining and repairing production machinery and utilities. The ideal candidate will have expertise in preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and minimising equipment downtime.
This role plays a crucial part in supporting maximum equipment availability and ensuring adherence to production schedules, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and safety compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines, utilities (air, water, power), and other critical equipment to minimise downtime and support continuous operations
- Conduct regular inspections of production equipment to identify wear, potential failures, and opportunities for improvement
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
- Monitor machine performance and report any issues related to efficiency, wear, or production deviations to the Maintenance Team Leader
- Assist the Maintenance Team Leader in managing maintenance costs, including overseeing spare parts and inventory to ensure availability and reduce unnecessary expenses
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage, ensuring documentation complies with safety and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
- Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Team Leader to analyse root causes of recurring breakdowns and contribute to developing problem-solving and preventive measures
Personal Specification
- NVQ, BTEC, or HNC in a relevant discipline
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience within the automotive or manufacturing industry
- Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance standards
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven ability to reduce downtime and troubleshoot effectively
- Competence in spare parts and inventory management
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
