The Role
We are looking for a Testing & Development Engineer to help us grow the product range and lift the quality of the engineering and its people to new highs.
The role of Testing & Development Engineer will be to manage and oversee testing and development elements of projects. Timely decision making and positive team leadership is key to a healthy and productive working environment. A hands-on approach and can-do attitude are essential, as is the ability to challenge mainstream thinking in a constructive and energetic way.
Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer of Testing & Development, you will be responsible for development and validation of products, including both new and existing platforms.
This is a contract for 6 months
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing and updating Engineering Test Procedures (ETP)
Support in defining instrumentation hardware requirements to conduct ETP’s
Working with T&D technicians supporting instrumentation onto test vehicles, rigs and powertrains
Overseeing and managing testing on-site, at laboratories and at test tracks on both components and vehicle prototypes
Working as a conduit between T&D and other Engineering faculties to support in delivery of testing data that correlates with engineering intent
3rd party Engineering Service Provider (ESP) day-to-day management and oversight of external testing to ensure correlation with Norton Engineering intent
Inspecting parts and vehicles, investigating issues and performing root-cause analysis
Processing data, presenting findings and writing reports
Key Skills & Experience
An interest and detailed understanding of fundamental motorcycle principles
Practical hands-on engineering and mechanical experience
A minimum of 4 years automotive/engineering background/proven experience in a similar role
Whole vehicle understanding of Powertrain, Chassis and Electrical systems
A knowledge of DFM, DFA and 8D problem solving analysis
Experience working with prototype vehicles
Proficient in using MS office programs
Experienced in using instrumentation and data-logging equipment.
Good presentation and report writing skills
Valid motorcycle licence and experience of riding motorcycles are highly desirable
Please note, this role will require travel to UK testing locations and occasional international travel.
