The role
As an experienced Production Engineer, you will lead the transition of prototype and production designs into efficient production processes within the Production Engineering team. Your role includes managing equipment installation, developing standard work for new products, and collaborating with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability. In addition to leading the transition of designs into manufacturing, this role will also involve overseeing current production processes to ensure quality and efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Managing production installation and commissioning of process/Manufacturing equipment
- Develop and implement standard work to produce new products
- Interface with design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new products
- Diagnosing errors or technical problems and determining correct solutions.
- Have a good understanding of traceability and product movement using digital track and trace systems
- Prepare accurate and objective technical status reports in support other team members
- Ability to read and understand Process & Instrumentation diagrams and engineers’ drawings
- Good understanding of control plans, process flow and PFMEA documentation
- Work with the production team and highlight areas of improvement
- Support the development of new models but highlighting lessons learnt
- Develop, implement, maintain, and improve current manufacturing processes
- Own the PFMEA and Control Plans for specific models and/or areas of the production line, ensuring a firm understanding of the process and controls
Personal Specification
- Ideally we are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of experience within an NPD role in Automotive or Aerospace environment
- Technical knowledge and demonstratable experience of LEAN principles and other manufacturing theories
- Experience of using 3D modelling CAD and software for generating 2D layouts
- Experience in working with Operator guidance systems ideal
- Experience in projects from Concept to Launch
- Experience with SQL databases would be advantageous
- Self-motivated individual who is proactive when identifying and prioritising work
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and assembly
- Good understanding of engineering principles
- Ability to work in a team or alone and unsupervised as needed
- A hands-on practical approach, ability to work with tools and machinery if required
- Knowledge of working with motorcycles is beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge of Health and Safety law and best practices
- Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
