The Role
The Line Side Auditor is responsible for ensuring that all motorcycles and sub-assemblies are built in accordance with defined quality standards, engineering specifications, and production processes.
Working directly on the production line, this role provides real-time quality assurance through inspection, audit, and verification activities.
The Line Side Auditor plays a critical role in preventing defects from progressing through the build process, supporting right-first-time assembly, and maintaining the premium quality standards expected of Norton motorcycles.
This role works closely with Production, Production Engineering, and Quality teams to identify issues, support containment actions, and drive continuous improvement at the point of manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct line-side inspections at defined stages of motorcycle assembly
Verify that all builds meet engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
Ensure correct fitment, alignment, and assembly of components
Confirm torque settings, fastener integrity, and critical-to-quality characteristics
Perform structured process and product audits in line with quality standards
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and build sequences
Identify and escalate any deviations from defined processes or specifications
Support layered audit processes and internal quality checks
Identify defects, non-conformances, and build discrepancies in real time
Initiate immediate containment actions to prevent defects progressing downstream
Clearly document and communicate issues to Production and Quality teams
Support segregation and control of non-conforming parts and assemblies
Assist in root cause analysis activities for recurring quality issues
Provide accurate inspection data and feedback to support investigations
Work with Production and Engineering to validate corrective actions
Complete inspection records, audit reports, and quality documentation accurately
Ensure full traceability of checks carried out at each stage of production
Maintain clear and auditable records in line with company requirements
Highlight recurring issues, process weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement
Support initiatives to improve first-time-through (FTT) and reduce rework
Promote a quality-first culture on the production line
Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety standards
Maintain a clean and organised working environment in line with 5S principles
Skills & Experience Required
Experience in a quality inspection or manufacturing environment (automotive or similar preferred)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of assembly processes and quality standards
Experience using inspection tools and measuring equipment
Knowledge of torque control and critical assembly checks (desirable)
Familiarity with quality systems and audit processes
