The Role
To act as the Quality owner for product audit and product quality assurance, ensuring that Norton Motorcycles meet defined standards for appearance, functionality, and conformity throughout new product development and series production.
The role is responsible for operating and developing the product audit system as the internal voice of the customer, assessing both the Appeal Quality Index (AQI) and Functional Quality Index (FQI) of the product. Through structured audits, testing and data analysis the role ensures that products not only meet engineering specifications but also deliver the intended customer experience.
The Product Quality Engineer will coordinate product testing and conformity activities, analyse product audit outcomes, identify quality trends, and drive improvements across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
Own and operate the product audit system, representing the internal voice of the customer
Manage and develop the Appeal Quality Index (AQI) and Functional Quality Index (FQI) audit frameworks
Plan structured product audits on vehicles in development builds and series production
Analyse audit results, identify recurring issues and drive corrective actions across the organisation
Ensure that finished vehicles conform to engineering specifications, regulatory requirements and Norton quality standards
Coordinate product quality assurance activities including testing, verification, and conformity checks (Internally and externally at engineering test partner sites worldwide)
Generate objective product quality evidence supporting internal requirements and Conformity of Production (CoP)
Ensure deviations from defined standards are identified, reported, and addressed
Create detailed inspection standards for assembly checkpoints and final audit
Ensure alignment with safety and aesthetic requirements
Develop EOL checklists for functional and perceived quality
Support product quality validation during prototype, development, and pre-production builds
Establish zone master documents defining quality expectations
Coordinate product audits and testing on development vehicles to identify quality risks prior to series production
Provide feedback to engineering teams regarding product design, fit, finish, and functionality
Ensure that product quality expectations are achieved before launch
Experience
Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
Experience in product quality, validation testing, or product audit within automotive, motorcycle, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments
Experience evaluating product appearance, fit and finish, and functional performance
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and product standards
Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality management systems
