The Role
The Finance Manager will serve as the financial leader for the U.S. subsidiary of a UK-based motorcycle manufacturer. This role is responsible for establishing, managing, and optimising all financial operations in the U.S. market. Working closely with the U.S. Country Manager and reporting with a dotted line to the Head of Finance, the Finance Manager will ensure accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, strong internal controls, and compliance with U.S. tax and regulatory requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the annual budgeting process, including revenue, expense, and capital planning.
- Monitor monthly and quarterly performance against budget and provide variance analysis with recommendations.
- Develop financial models to support business cases, market entry initiatives, and investment decisions.
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and corporate reporting requirements.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and maintain strong internal controls.
Banking & Treasury Management
- Manage banking relationships, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity to support operational needs.
- Oversee banking transactions, credit facilities, and foreign exchange considerations in coordination with the Global team.
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales tax and corporate income tax.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors as required.
- Support compliance with global corporate governance and audit requirements.
Business Partnering
- Act as a strategic partner to the Country Manager, providing financial insight to support commercial decisions, pricing strategies, and cost control initiatives.
- Collaborate with global finance teams to align reporting standards, processes, and best practices.
Personal Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
- Experience in a subsidiary or multinational environment, preferably in automotive, motorcycle, or consumer durable goods industries.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and P&L ownership.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with banks, auditors, and external advisors.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- SAP knowledge
- Speed of execution & ability to work with less supervision is critical
- Good interpersonal skills and strong in Microsoft excel
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and execution.
- Strong business acumen with ability to influence senior management.
- Hands-on, proactive, and adaptable to a startup or market-entry environment.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a global matrix organization.
- Willingness to travel as needed to support regional initiatives.
